| We are happy
that you have found your way to our homepage and would like to take this
opportunity to introduce ourselves.
We, that is me Barbara, infected by the cocker virus for years now, my
husband Thamer and our son Kevin - both of whom now also have this virus.
It's contageous!
Well, how should I begin?
I was thirteen when I met a red spaniel that lived nearby. Unfortunately
I couldn't touch him as he was liable to bite without warning and always
wore a muzzle when outdoors. He was a victim of the so-called cocker
rage which was quite common in those days. But his owner was impressed
by my stubborn affection for this dog and I was allowed to visit her and
at some point I got to feeding him and taking him for walks.
I longed for a cocker of my own.
It was somewhat difficult to convince my parents but saving up the
necessary money was even more difficult! I was determined to get a
cocker from a breeder.
At that time you could easily buy a dog in a pet-shop - the pedigrees
were suspect but the dog was considerably cheaper. I was a child and was
often tempted to say that I would buy such a dog, less expensive than
buying from a breeder.
Just at the right time there were numerous newspaper articles about sick
and deceased puppies, bought from dog-farms and pet-shops. That
confirmed my decision to buy only from a breeder who bred according to
the rules of the German kennel club. At that time there was only one
club responsible for all the spaniel breeds: the Jadspanielklub
Deutschland ev.
After my 14th birthday the point had come when my piggy-bank was full
and we could begin to look around for a cocker breeder. We asked the
Jagdspanielklub and learned that the kennel "..... vom
Wiesenschlösschen" had a litter. We went there and brought home a
beautiful red bitch called
"Midi vom Wiesenschlösschen"
The whole time my father tried to get me to choose a black and white
puppy but no - it had to be a red one just like the red dog I had loved
despite his failings!
Since then I have managed to pass on the cocker virus to all the members
of my family.
At present we have five cocker spaniels: Aron, Fantasia and her
half-brother Zauberprinz, Twiggy and our danish girl Pinky.
I have fallen in love with the black and white
cockers - of course a good dog has nothing to do with its colour - but
the black and white cockers are rather special!
You are looking for a cocker spaniel? Do you have questions or are you
interested in buying a puppy? Or does your darling need an appointment
